Tardy International Hallmarks on Silver is a book published in print to Identify the age and origin of silverware pieces.
It is alphabetically indexed by country and then has individual sections within each nation that shows their particular marks for silver purity as well as the country's date and sometime city marks. There is also a section in the book that shows symbols sorted by picture type which is very helpful when trying to find an obscure silver marking.
We have used this book for decades and it was one of our top 10 books to have at hand near our desks to research items of sterling silver flatware and hollowware to trace their origins and to figure out their ages. We now also now use on-line resources as well, however, nothing beats being able to thumb through quickly the pages of this little book and quickly catalog and identify rare and antique silver items.
